This Isn’t the Life We Were Meant to Live

There’s a photo I saw recently — a group of people on a lunch break, sitting neatly on a patch of grass. Above it, a caption read:

“Caged-free, pasture-raised humans, allowed to roam for 30 minutes a day. Just the way nature intended…”

It was meant to be funny.

But to me, it hit harder than that.

Because in some strange, unsettling way — it’s true.

We live in a world where humans function like programmed machines.

Wake up. Go to work. Make money. Try to survive. Repeat.

All for what?

A Life Scripted for Us — Not by Us

From the moment we’re born, we’re given a script:

  • Go to school.
  • Get good grades.
  • Choose a career.
  • Work hard.
  • Retire.
  • Die.

This script leaves little space for meaning. No room to explore who we really are or what we’re capable of. It’s a conveyor belt of expectations designed to make us “successful” by someone else’s standards — not fulfilled by our own.

We go through 15+ years of education, yet most of us graduate not knowing:

  • How to cope with anxiety
  • How to build real relationships
  • How to find purpose
  • How to truly live

We’re taught how to pass exams, not how to live with peace.

We’re told to find a job — not a reason to wake up every day.

And so, we work. We earn. We burn out.

The Crisis We Don’t Talk About Enough

Mental health is declining faster than ever.

Suicide rates are rising — even among kids.

People feel more isolated, more overwhelmed, more lost.

We’re drowning in information but starving for wisdom.

We’ve made progress in tech, medicine, and money — but what about humanity?

We chase “success,” but ignore our stress.

We post pictures of happy lives while battling silent battles inside.

This system — the one we’ve normalized — isn’t just flawed. It’s inhumane.

Who Built This System?

Have you ever stopped and asked: Who created this life model?

Who decided we must spend most of our lives working to afford the very lives we’re too busy to enjoy?

No one really chose it.

We inherited it.

And then we blindly followed it.

It’s time to question the blueprint.

Because clearly, it’s not working anymore.

We Were Meant for More

We weren’t born to just survive or comply.

We weren’t made to be quiet, obedient gears in someone else’s machine.

We were meant to:

  • Create
  • Connect
  • Explore
  • Rest
  • Grow
  • Breathe
  • Be alive

We were meant to feel the earth under our feet — not concrete.

We were meant to follow curiosity — not just paychecks.

We were meant to build meaningful lives — not just impressive résumés.

So, What Now?

We need a collective awakening. A shift in mindset.

We need to reimagine education, redefine success, and rethink what it means to be “productive.”

More importantly — we need to live intentionally.

That doesn’t mean quitting your job or escaping society. It means:

  • Slowing down and listening to your inner voice
  • Questioning what you’ve been told
  • Redefining what fulfillment looks like to you
  • And choosing to live with purpose, not pressure

Final Thoughts

This blog isn’t a protest — it’s a reflection.

It’s a reminder that if something in this life feels off to you, you’re not crazy — you’re awake.

The chaos you feel? The emptiness? The restlessness? That’s your spirit remembering it was meant for more.

So, let’s talk about it. Let’s share ideas. Let’s build something new.

Not a perfect world — but a real one. A human one. A livable one.

Because the one we’re in right now?

It’s time to admit — this isn’t the life we were meant to live.
